Issue 24: June 10

Dear Dr. Schelling,

My older dog has been acting really slow and stiff. She refuses to jump into the car. I thought she might be in pain, but she’s not yelping or whining. What should I do?

Dear Jason,

Dogs communicate how they feel through their appearance and actions. Don't wait for her to yelp or whine. Your dog could be suffering from arthritis, back trouble, or another medical condition. She should see the vet as soon as possible. (And don't give her any people medicine in the meantime). Click here for to learn how to tell if your dog is sick.
